volunteers HOIST RHODES19S - Thursday evening

Good evening folks -

WEDNESDAY – 2-6pm – Preparation for the haul started this afternoon.  Edgewood Rhodes19s are un-stepped, their gear and sails are stored in the container, and the Fleet is ready to be hoisted onto trailers.

THURSDAY – 5pm-7pmtow skippers meet at Edgewood to take charge of one of the R19s, handle it through the on-water tow from Edgewood to Rhode Island Yacht Club, then guide the boat to the hoist platform, help get it into the lifting straps, and then help land the boat on its trailer.  Wear warm sailing gear and pfd.     register: vmb.11

THURSDAY – 7pm-9pm – hoist crew meet at Rhode Island Yacht Club to help guide the boats down onto trailers, lock the boats down to the trailer for the land-tow back the Edgewood, and help the tow vehicle drivers maneuvering the loaded trailers in the dark.     register: vmb 12 

     hoists begin as soon as there is sufficient tide (2.5ft ~7pm)
     dress for cool Autumn weather on the water
     bring small hand or head-band flashlight
     there is no heavy lifting!


    we will be hoisting 8 Rhodes19s and the 32ft Columbia – many hands are very welcome!


SATURDAY – 9am-noon – volunteers are back in action at Edgewood

            work on winterizing the Whalers
            "no heavy lifting"
            maintenance on lines, sails, equipment on the whalers and the Rhodes 19s
            tools and equipment provided 
            bring work gloves and wear work clothes according to the weather 

            Crews of Saturday Volunteers meet each Saturday morning until the end of November)
