Edgewood takes to the Eastern Mountain Sports - sailing near Trader Joe's

After young sailors at the Zoo in an Opti with the kangaroos and flamingos, it was only a small leap to eastern mountain climbing – still in a Rhodes sailboat – with Trader Joe. Eastern Mountain Sports (Warwick) hosted the Sailing School, with a borrowed Rhodes-19, as part of the store's annual outdoor “Club Day”.  It was a clear-weather spring Saturday while Edgewood friends and new-comers chatted with adult and youth Volunteers, board members and instructors about this year's programs.

Who needs water?

Many were surprised by the range of sailing — youth Starter Sailing to Optis, 420s and Rhodes, to adult Level 3 and Tutor Training, each with its opportunties to get out on the water.   For it was getting out on the water which was very much on everyone's minds. Visitors included both some young candidates for next year's program (see the video above), and several friends who have known the Sailing School for years, and stopped by to congratulate the School on its recovery from the Edgewood Yacht Club fire, and to renew their interest and their support.
